Would it be wrong to get a POW/MIA band tattooed on?

So my dad recently passed away, and he always wore a POW/MIA band of a M/SGT Robert J Sullivan who went missing in Laos in 67'... He wore it for my entire life and before, and I'm 33.

How the guy went MIA is a crazy story If you have time, its Hollywood level story: https://www.pownetwork.org/bios/s/s448.htm

Anyways, since he passed about a year ago I've been wearing it. But the idea came to me to get it tattooed on. I'm not someone who gets tattoos but the thought dawned on me.

I know the point of them is to return them to the family once they get found. Ive worn them in the past of guys who did get found, and sent them back to the family.

I just feel like this one is different, I highly doubt they're ever gonna find even a trace of him.

Just don't want to be disrespectful. I don't plan to ever stop wearing it regardless, but seemed like a good meaningful first tattoo.
