Is it disrespectful to wear a Military Uniform?

I recently got an unknown WW2/Korean war veteran's coat from a place I volunteer at (Commemorative Air Force) during one of their garage sales. The coat has all of his insignias, ranking, medals etc. and I was wondering if it is disrespectful to wear that and present it. I have a deep admiration for the military and I hope to join someday, but I and I bet a lot of other people have an issue with me wearing a coat with medals and insignias that I did not earn. I am planning on wearing it to an event the commemorative air force is hosting and maybe some other dress up events because I genuinely like the look, but I don't want to be disrespectful in anyway to veterans. Should I cover up the medals, insignias etc. or is it just better not to wear it at all?
