Asking about getting a tattoo, don’t want to be disrespectful

So long story short my father died nearly a year ago. He served in the US Air Force from 1980-1990. He was many different things but primarily a Crew Chief (mechanic) on an A-10 Warthog, Serving in the flying tigers… I want to get a tattoo to remember him by and nothing else fits other than something about him and his plane. The question I’m asking is: Is it wrong if I get a tattoo of the outline of the insignia for the flying tigers (no detail, just a black filled outline of it)

I understand how important military tattoos are to those who have served and don’t want to be in the wrong, thank you for your time.
