Hello Everyone,
I am planning a solo road trip across the New Zealand South Island in the end of may (starting 18th May) before flying to Australia. After some time researching and viewing old posts, I have created an itinerary that I would appreciate any feedback/advice on. I plan to fly into christchurch and rent a car for the duration of the trip. I would like to see as many scenic POIs as I possibly can. I will have been in Nelson a month prior on an educational project, so would be accustomed to the timezone. The itinerary is as follows:
Day 1:
Day 2:
Day 3 and 4 (have seen previous advice to leave 2 days here in case heli tour is cancelled):
Day 5:
Day 6:
Day 7:
Day 8:
Day 9:
Day 10:
Day 11:
Day 12:
Day 13:
I would appreciate any advice regarding my trips feasibility and if I should cut out certain POIs/activities especially given that the days are quite short (sunset around 5pm). Likewise I additionally wanted to know if I could combine certain days to overall improve efficiency and make the most of each day (is it really a necessity to have 2 days in FJ? How likely is the heli tour to be cancelled as otherwise day 2 in FJ would be quite slow..)
How is the weather like in late may on the South island?
I will also post this in r/newzealand for increased coverage, so apologies if you come across this as repost.
Thanks.
