This pivotal moment underscores MAG’s steadfast dedication to advancing aviation excellence and shaping the industry’s future through MAB Academy, its training division.

The ceremony featured the groundbreaking of MAB Academy’s cutting-edge flight simulator building, presided over by Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Also present were Minister of Transport Tuan Loke Siew Fook, MAG’s Group Chairman Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, Group Managing Director Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, along with government officials, board members, and MAG’s senior management.

Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, expressed the company’s dedication, commenting, “As an aviation group, we recognise the pivotal role skilled talents play in shaping a sustainable future for the industry. Through strategic investments in state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive training programmes, we are dedicated to building a robust talent pipeline that serves not only our immediate needs but also contributes to the nation’s overall growth in the aviation industry. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, we ensure our agility in meeting the evolving demands of the aviation landscape.

We will continue to focus on initiatives that enhance customer experience and MAG’s robust growth, with the clear ambition of becoming among the top ten global airlines by 2030. This journey involves ongoing enhancements to every aspect of our product and service offering to ensure unparalleled excellence for the global communities we serve.”

The newly established MAB Academy has relocated from its previous Kelana Jaya landmark to Malaysia Airlines’ former headquarters. Covering 194,000 square feet, the campus emphasizes a comprehensive educational approach by merging collaborative areas with thorough training programs. Noteworthy additions comprise a Heritage walkway showcasing MAG’s historical journey, an i-Learn Hub, and detailed cabin replicas for in-flight service training, including a cabin fire simulator mimicking real emergencies with seating, overhead compartments, and lavatories.

The forthcoming Flight Simulator Building is set to revolutionize the academy’s training capabilities. Expected to be finished by mid-2025, this facility underscores MAB Academy’s dedication to offering state-of-the-art training resources. Housing six simulator bays with cutting-edge aircraft simulators from MAG airlines, including the new A330neo simulator, as well as simulators for the Boeing 737-800 NG and ATR 72-500, the Flight Simulator Building will also feature essential facilities like a safety and emergency training pool and other service training amenities. These amenities, coupled with full hospitality services, are poised to elevate MAB Academy’s reputation as a premier center for aviation and hospitality excellence in the region.
