Today marks a significant milestone for Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) with the inauguration of its new MAB Academy campus and the commencement of construction for the Flight Simulator Building at the South Support Zone, Sepang. This pivotal event highlights MAG’s steadfast dedication to fostering aviation excellence and steering the future of the sector via its educational division, MAB Academy.

The launch featured a groundbreaking ceremony for the MAB Academy’s state-of-the-art flight simulator building, led by Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Dignitaries such as the Minister of Transport, Tuan Loke Siew Fook; MAG Group Chairman, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin; and MAG Group Managing Director, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, were present, along with other government officials, board members, and senior MAG management.

Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, expressed the company’s dedication, commenting, “As an aviation group, we recognise the pivotal role skilled talents play in shaping a sustainable future for the industry. Through strategic investments in state-of-the-art facilities and comprehensive training programmes, we are dedicated to building a robust talent pipeline that serves not only our immediate needs but also contributes to the nation’s overall growth in the aviation industry. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, we ensure our agility in meeting the evolving demands of the aviation landscape.

We will continue to focus on initiatives that enhance customer experience and MAG’s robust growth, with the clear ambition of becoming among the top ten global airlines by 2030. This journey involves ongoing enhancements to every aspect of our product and service offering to ensure unparalleled excellence for the global communities we serve.”

Relocated from its previous site in Kelana Jaya, the new MAB Academy, now housed at the former headquarters of Malaysia Airlines, spans 194,000 square feet. The campus fosters a comprehensive educational approach by merging collaborative environments with extensive training modules. Highlights include a Heritage walkway detailing MAG’s historical evolution, an i-Learn Hub, and detailed cabin mock-ups for in-flight service training, featuring a cabin fire trainer designed to simulate real flight fire emergencies.

Set to be completed by mid-2025, the new Flight Simulator Building will greatly boost the academy’s training capabilities. This world-class facility will house six simulator bays equipped with the latest aircraft simulators managed by MAG airlines, including a new A330neo simulator and simulators for the Boeing 737-800 NG and ATR 72-500. Additional facilities will include a pool for safety and emergency training, among other service training amenities, enhancing MAB Academy’s reputation as a premier center for aviation and hospitality training in the region.

Certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) as an Approved Training Organisation (ATO), MAB Academy offers nearly 200 courses, ranging from mandatory flight training to aviation services training and digital innovation programs, serving a diverse range of clients including leading Malaysian companies, international airlines, and students from renowned global universities.
