Gulf Coast, Southeast,

Buckle up for stormy weather! Gulf Coast & Southeast brace for flash floods and severe thunderstorms. Get prepared now.

Severe storms and flash flooding are set to affect parts of the Gulf Coast and Southeast on Tuesday, while South Florida and the West will experience above-average temperatures.

Gulf Coast and Southeast Weather:
A slow-moving frontal boundary will bring wet and unsettled weather to the Gulf Coast and Southeast today. Showers and thunderstorms in this area may become severe, with heavy rainfall possible. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a Slight Risk for severe weather, indicating the potential for damaging winds, very large hail, and one or two tornadoes, particularly in central/northern Florida and southern Georgia. Additionally, the Weather Prediction Center (WPC) has highlighted a Slight Risk for excessive rainfall and local flash flooding in much of the same area, while a broader Marginal Risk extends northward to the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic regions. As the system moves east, the threats for severe storms and heavy rainfall will decrease to a Marginal Risk on Wednesday.

Showers and Storms Moving East:
Showers and storms will spread from the lower Missouri and Mid-Mississippi valleys to the Ohio Valley, reaching the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast today. A brief dry period over the Mississippi Valley will be followed by another round of showers and storms starting late Wednesday. Before affecting the central U.S., this system will bring showers, storms, and cooler temperatures from the Northern Rockies to the Central Rockies and High Plains on Tuesday.

Temperature Outlook:
South Florida will continue to experience well above-normal, near-record high temperatures through Wednesday. Meanwhile, warmer temperatures will spread across the western states, reaching well-above normal highs by midweek.
