First time in Europe. 26 y/o male. I'll be going from May 15 - July 15. Looking to stay in hostels and take public transport. Hoping to keep things under $6k USD total for the 2 months (60 days) for hostels, food, transport, and attractions.
When planning these itineraries, I tried to keep travel times between cities minimal. I also wanted to hit a mix of big cities (Budapest, Krakow, Berlin, etc.), villages (Bavaria), fairytale like towns (cesky krumlov), nature (switzerland, bavarian alps), and beach (Greece/Croatia). Budget is a consideration, but I'm willing to spend a little more where it is worth it (e.g. Switzerland). I have Croatian and German ancestry, which sparked my interest in Option 1.
Option 1 has 7 days where I can still add stuff. Option 2 has 19 days where I can still add stuff. Main difference is covering Italy/Greece in Option 2, versus more of Germany in Option 1.
Option 1 (53 days total, 7 days flexible to add):
