The company’s approach is twofold: to encourage citizens to vote and to reward them with holiday discounts and a complimentary travel bag after they cast their vote.

During the 2019 general elections, only 67.11% of eligible voters participated, partly due to the migrating Indian population from Tier II and III cities to urban areas. Recognizing the significance of each vote, Thomas Cook India has designed its campaign to raise awareness and incentivize voters.

The Ghar Jao Vote Karo campaign will run until June 1, 2024, urging Indians to return to their hometowns, where they are registered as voters. As part of the pre-election offer, individuals can avail a discount of Rs. 1,000 on return air tickets (per adult) by providing proof of voter registration through official documents like Voter ID or Aadhaar Card. The flight departure deadline aligns with the last day of polling.

Since many voting dates coincide with India’s summer vacation season, Thomas Cook India will provide special post-voting holiday discounts for domestic and international group tours. Customers can receive Rs. 3,000 off on Domestic Group Tours or Rs. 5,000 off on International Group Tours per family by presenting their inked finger at any Thomas Cook retail outlet nationwide. This exclusive discount is valid until July 31, 2024.

Considering that several election dates fall on Mondays, Thomas Cook’s data indicates that Indians are inclined to turn these occasions into “smart weekend holidays,” fostering the trend of “Election Tourism.”
