Quentin Tarantino: Looking at his movies, how had his style evolved from the early 1990s (e.g., Reservoir Dogs) to last few years (Once Upon a Time...

It seems that QT has stopped making movies for the time being and he's not in a hurry to direct what may be his last one (The Movie Critic).

So I thought this is a good time to reflect on his career. And I've had this discussion with people where some say Tarantino peaked long time ago (particularly with Pulp Fiction) and it's been downhill since, most of his movies just being variations of revenge fantasy. Whereas others, myself included, feel that he continues to reinvent himself, and some of his more recent films have been very well done.

Oh and his movies are not just cheap revenge porn. They ARE that in some ways, and quite bloody too, but they are much more: They have weird funny extraordinary conversations that are memorable. Also nobody can create suspense like him (watch Inglourious Basterds). And his encyclopedic knowledge of film is evident in all the work that he puts into creating every movie. You really feel like you are in the hands of a capable and competent filmmaker, not somebody trying to make a quick buck by making some over the top meaningless action movie.

So, if he decides to step away from filmmaking, it's not because the spring is dry but because he has high standards and expectations of himself.
