Indian Railways has decided to significantly increase its train services this summer in response to a surge in demand for travel during the season. It is projected that more than 9,000 train trips will be made, marking a 43% increase from the previous year’s figure of 6,369 trips. The Railways Ministry has confirmed that a total of 9,111 train trips are scheduled for this period.

The additional services are aimed at enhancing connectivity across key destinations nationwide, ensuring travelers can move smoothly along major routes. The Western Railways is set to lead this increase with 1,878 trips, with the North Western Railway following with 1,623 trips.

The increase in trips is a proactive measure in response to the expected increase in passengers, and it reflects the broader efforts by the Indian Railways to monitor and meet passenger needs. This monitoring is conducted through various channels such as media, social media, and direct passenger feedback.

Furthermore, to improve passenger experience, the ministry has taken steps to ensure the provision of essential services such as drinking water at stations and has implemented comprehensive crowd management strategies. These include deploying Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and coordinating with other security forces to manage the flow of passengers at critical points like foot-over bridges.

Tickets for these expanded services are available for booking at railway ticket counters as well as online through the IRCTC website and app. This strategic expansion not only meets the increased seasonal demand but also plays a crucial role in enhancing the global appeal and operational efficiency of railway tourism in India.
