Embraer unveiled its plan to invest around USD$390 million and add 900 new employees this year. This development was disclosed during Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s visit to Embraer’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, aiming to boost aircraft production and foster future growth through the creation of new businesses, products, and services.

The investment will fund research and development for innovative technologies, including those used in electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs), and will expand aeronautical services such as converting passenger planes to cargo planes. It also covers defense, security, efficiency enhancements, and industrial activity growth.

“Embraer begins a new phase of growth based on efficiency and innovation. We are focused on capturing our full potential in the different segments in which we operate towards more sustainable aviation,” said Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer. “And through partnerships with the public and private sector, we are expanding sales, opening new markets and investing in new technologies, which makes it possible to increase the export of high-value-added products and create thousands of highly qualified jobs in Brazil.”

About 90% of the new positions will be filled throughout the year in the operations sector, offering roles for mechanics, electricians, millers, molders, aircraft maintenance technicians, and quality technicians with prior experience. There are also positions for production trainees who will be trained and qualified by internal mentors, alongside openings for engineers and other administrative staff.

Last year, Embraer increased its workforce by 1,500, returning to its pre-pandemic employment levels, and now employs about 19,000 people globally, with 88% based in Brazil.

The company resumed its growth trajectory in 2023, reporting revenues of USD$5.26 billion—the highest profitability in the past five years—with 181 jets delivered, marking a 13% increase over the previous year.

For 2024, Embraer forecasts continued growth, expecting to deliver between 72 and 80 commercial aircraft and 125 to 135 executive jets, aiming for revenues of USD$6 billion to USD$6.4 billion. This growth includes a partnership with Azul Linhas Aéreas, set to receive 13 E195-E2 jets this year, a model recognized globally for its efficiency and sustainability. President Lula recently named one of these aircraft during his factory visit.
