Disney Invokes First Amendments Rights Over Gina Carano's Firing From The Mandalorian & Star Wars Spinoffs

Disney's lawyers have claimed First Amendment rights mean Gina Carano's lawsuit over her firing from The Mandalorian should be thrown out. Cast as Alderaanian shocktrooper Cara Dune in The Mandalorian season 1, Gina Carano's future seemed brighter than ever - with even a prospective Star Wars spinoff called Rangers of the New Republic on the horizon. All that changed in February 2021, when she was abruptly fired over a series of controversial social media comments, and she's now filed a lawsuit against her former employers.
