Today, the airline unveiled revisions to its Seats to Suit program effective June, introducing a fresh array of booking choices for travel between New Zealand and the Tasman or Pacific Islands.

According to Jeremy O’Brien, Air New Zealand’s General Manager for Short Haul, the airline recognizes that customers cherish the Air New Zealand experience and seek versatility and freedom in their travel. Hence, the enhanced and streamlined fare selections aim to provide customers precisely that.

“We want every customer to have an exceptional experience onboard. Part of our promise is to provide manaaki to all who fly with us so we’re excited that everyone onboard will now be treated to full in-flight entertainment. Seat-only customers will now also be offered one of our incredible new snack options too.

“Works customers will continue to receive the same great inclusions currently on offer including one checked bag, a full meal and drinks, entertainment and free standard seat selection.

“Our customers have told us affordable flexibility is important, especially for many of our frequent fliers, so we’re introducing a new fully flexible and refundable fare option in each cabin.

“The new Seats to Suit updates are based on customer feedback and changes our passengers were looking for. We’re excited to make these a reality for those jumping onboard for short haul international travel and can’t wait to see them introduced in June.”

The updated fare options will include the following categories:

  1. Seat
  2. The Works
  3. Works Flexi
  4. Premium Economy
  5. Premium Flexi
  6. Business Premier
  7. Business Flexi

Notable modifications to the Seats to Suit program are as follows:

  • All passengers will now enjoy access to the complete inflight entertainment selection, along with a complimentary snack or meal, tea, coffee, water, and juice.
  • Newly introduced flexibility fares, such as Works Flexi, Premium Flexi, or Business Flexi, offer travelers peace of mind with fully flexible and refundable ticket options.
  • The Seat+Bag package will be phased out. Instead, customers purchasing a seat fare can opt to add one bag for an additional $30.
  • Inflight snack purchases will be discontinued since all passengers will now receive a snack or meal. However, a variety of beverages will still be available for purchase.
  • Airport vouchers for onboard purchases will no longer be offered. All transactions will occur during the flight, requiring a Visa, Mastercard, Amex card, or Airpoints for payment.
  • The updated Seats to Suit options will take effect from June 11, 2024, for new bookings on flights between New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.
