'A Doctor Who for 2024' Had to Be More Emotional Says Russell T. Davies

A little more than 60 years after it debuted on November 23, 1963, Doctor Who is ready for a relaunch with a new Doctor and companion in the TARDIS, a new streaming and production partner in Disney+, and beloved showrunner Russell T. Davies back at the helm. One of the challenges of keeping the longest-running science fiction series going is connecting to new audiences over the years, and reflecting the changes of an ever-evolving society (something Doctor Who accomplishes through the process of regeneration, occasionally replacing its lead with a new actor). During a recent press conference, Davies addressed the most recent evolution.
