My friends pet is currently insured. Has been for years, never made a claim etc. My friend has noticed an ailment on the cat at home that could be very expensive to treat in the long run.

My friend just realised that they have a lower cover limit than they thought. They have received a quote for another insurance that offers 4x as much cover.

This ailment has never been seen by a vet, is mentioned in no history etc and is unlikely to actually cause any problems within the next couple of years. The waiting period for the new insurance is a few weeks.

If my friend takes their pet to the vet a day or so after the waiting period and the issue is noted on their record will this raise any alarms or do you think the new insurance will take over cover straight away? The vet visit would be unrelated to the ailment however the ailment is likely to be noted
