Grit in earlier seasons

I am marathoning TV shows now and I can’t help but miss the grittiness of tv shows in their early seasons. I especially enjoy it when not guilty verdicts are given in police dramas, or when CSI can’t solve the crime. I know themes must go with the times and reflect reality but I do miss how tv is not all shiny and perfect and with fast internet lol. Are there contemporary shows like that now?
